Duckling / Gosling and Chicks Rooms

What we call our ‘main building’ is divided into three classroom areas, which provide spaces to create prepared environments for three separate school years to learn and develop. These three areas are housed in the original purpose built, oak framed building built in 2005.

Children in these groups are separated into their academic year groups. We find that this allows them to develop and maintain friendships with those that they will stay at nursery with before transitioning to schools, as well as provide a consistent space/ group/ staff for them to flourish and learn.

Chicks 3

The whole nursery is influenced and guided by our passionate belief in “the child” and the Montessori Method of Education.

Alongside play opportunities children in the ‘main building’ will be introduced to age appropriate, early Montessori Curriculum activities as detailed later in this prospectus. Each of the rooms are fully equipped with enjoyable learning through play activities also enjoy their own unique outdoor play and exploration area, all of which are freely accessible within the prepared environments.

Chicks Group

The chicks classroom is opened from January/ April – August each academic year for children to transition from the Infant Community or join us shortly after turning two.

Duckling Group

What we call the Duckling group is either the next stage for children transferring form the I.C (Born April- August) or Chicks classroom (depending on age) or a first taste of nursery for children who may joins us aged two plus.

Gosling Group

Duckling 12Our other main group is known as the Gosling Group, which caters for children aged three and over and who are in their final year in preschool education.

Within this classroom children are introduced to the further Montessori materials, building on earlier experiences.   When appropriate the activities shared progress towards some academic learning – for example using Sandpaper letters and numbers to learn about phonic sounds and number symbols.
